Rodeos

The animals used in rodeos are gentle and tame by nature, but rodeo "cowboys" provoke them into jumping, running, and bucking by using electric prods, sharp sticks, spurs, and other torture devices.

Horses and bulls are made to buck with a flank or "bucking" strap tightly cinched around their abdomens, where there is no rib-cage protection. Forced to run or buck frantically to escape the torment, the animals are prone to broken bones and other injuries when they trip, fall, or crash into the ring's walls. Many more animals are hurt or killed during practice sessions. Animals discarded by the rodeo are sent to the slaughterhouse.

Although rodeo cowboys voluntarily risk injury by participating in events, the animals have no choice. Please click here to learn more.
