Ron Jeremy Says, "Too Much Sex is a Bad Thing" for Animals
Ron Jeremy, one of the most penetrating stars of the adult movie industry, with almost 1,800 movies under his belt, knows a thing or two about sex! In a business where talent can be measured in inches, Ron has been keeping up with the Johnsons since the ’70s to become one of the biggest stars in adult films.
Jeremy proved that he's a big man when it comes to small animals by taking a break from his daily grind to pose for a PETA ad promoting spaying and neutering. In the tongue-in-cheek ad, Ron lies naked on a bed, with the tagline “Too much sex can be a bad thing. Help end overpopulation—spay and neuter your dogs and cats.”
Why are Jeremy and PETA so fixated on getting animals fixed? One unspayed female cat can produce 36 cats in just one and a half years—an unneutered male can help create limitless litters of kittens.
Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are dumped at extremely crowded animal shelters, where most are put to death. The less fortunate ones will be turned out to fend for themselves in all extremes of weather, lose battles with traffic and disease, have no constant food source, and perhaps even be stolen by laboratory dealers or used as bait by dogfighters. Simple surgery (spaying for females, neutering for males) is the solution.
"It bothers me that shelters have to go through this," says Jeremy. "The only cure for this overpopulation and for having to kill animals on a daily basis is to get them spayed or neutered."
PETA's Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign tackles this issue head on by encouraging people to have their companion animals spayed or neutered and never to buy animals from a breeder or a pet shop. Do your part by practicing your ABCs, and sign our pledge to help end animal homelessness today!
